Green?

In Edinburgh "tram" is a four letter word. Originally costed at £375 million in 2003, the project to run a massively reduced line to the airport is now likely to cost more than £1 billion.

A group of Edinburgh residents took the Council to the UN Courts in Geneva in September over the tram project. They complained Edinburgh Council was in breach of an international agreement on access to information with regard to the pollution caused by the tramworks. Their complaint was upheld.

One study has suggested that it will take 43 years to zero the carbon cost brought about by the traffic diversions, the queuing, the heavy machinery......
