This is a day-flying moth which is often mistaken for a butterfly. It is a New Zealand native, but a similar species from Australia also occurs and they will interbreed.


 Thank you so much for your comments, stars and hearts for the tiny flowers featured in my blip yesterday. The dark background is deep shadow in my garden while the flower stem was sitting in the late afternoon sunlight.
