All That Remains

On our way south we stayed the night in Taupo with our buddy Sandra who came to Fiordland with us in January.  As a little girl I moved from Christchurch to live in Taupo.  My father was the Police sergeant there.  We lived behind the station and the Magistrates Court on a pumice road.  The horse pound was across the road.  I remember the smell of broom flowers and the gum nuts from this tall eucalyptus tree.  The other tree is a beech tree that dad planted as a seedling from the bush.  I could run down the hill to the boat harbour and swim at the lake front unsupervised.
