A Step Back in Time

Today we visited the oldest stone building in New Zealand - the Stone Store, built in 1832. Adjacent to it is Kemp House which is the oldest surviving European building in New Zealand.

I chose this image of light coming through a window in Kemp House for my blip because I felt it showed some of the conditions these early settlers lived under. Even though it was the middle of the day, the level of light was low and I thought of the women who spent much of their lives cooking, sewing and all other activities in poorly lit rooms.
