Mother Thames

The river Thames, we were told by the lock keeper, was at its highest levels all winter, and it rained solidly. The sluice gates on the weir are almost fully open, the water is over the rollers which are used in summer to launch the rowing boats and the island looks a little perilous. We left our tent with everything lifted off the floor, in case of flooding.
