ABRAHAM LINCOLN BRIDGE

This suspension bridge opened in December, 2015, but today was our first time to drive over it. It is amazingly slight & artistically beautiful for the strength it must have. The bridge is over the Ohio River connecting Louisville, KY and Indiana on I-65. To either side you can see two other bridges (this suspension bridge replaced one of them and the second connects other state highways). The older bridges’ heftier metal construction gives an appearance of sure strength; however, the technology of this new bridge is simply that the highway is held up by cables. It doesn’t look as strong but outdoes its predecessor by far. Quite an engineering accomplishment!
This was the third, and last, day of our trip home from Florida.
