Taking a Break

Another chapter in the precarious life of a cormorant. She's been sitting on the nest for awhile now, but she gets up to stretch every now and again, revealing an egg. It almost looks like there are two eggs in the photo, but the brighter white patch is feathers. The other day I did see two eggs. It seems like it would be so easy to lose one from that bundle of dried seaweed and grass; I hope it's just hidden.

We did a little more weeding, inching along to see what made it through the winter. The wind's come up though. Although I'd hoped to read on the patio this afternoon, I don't like being out when it's blowing like this. It makes my shoulder burn, and I don't expect that will make sense to anyone.
