Back and Forth thru time

Evening all,

ok, quick apologies for lack of commenting/viewing this week, we are 'away from it all' in the lake district and we only have internet access for a limited time each day.

The time of day is dependent on what time we pop across to the hotel for 'afternoon tea' which is a throwback to an age i can't remember and, despite the surroundings and the luxury, i find a little bit uncomfortable.

Moving on, and possibly backward in time, we are spending a couple of days at the South Lakes zoo, which seems to also be of a simpler age, before the advent of crippling health and safety laws.

The zoo is fantastic, the freedom that the animals have to roam around, and the close proximity that you are able to achieve to them makes the experience almost magical.
The Lemurs and other primates are firmly in charge of the zoo, roaming where they wish, when they wish, with little heed for their human interlopers.

The (safe) access to the predators is also a rare treat these days, when so many animals seem so contained behind so many miles of thick, wire mesh as to be virtually unrecognisable, still i suppose it won't last, some member of the superior human species will ignore the signs and leap into the compound for close up photo, or dangle little Johnny over the barriers so he can get as immersive an experience as possible, so immersive that he gets eaten by a lion.

Then it'll be Mr Lion who is at fault and will receive the business end of a loaded shotgun, while Johnny's dad will receive a huge payout from the insurance companies and £250 from You've Been Framed..

and yes, i know zoos aren't everyones cup of tea, and yes, i know there may be issues with some of them, but get them while you can, i sense (like the animals) they won't be here for ever....

night all
