Tree Swallow

I took young C for a walk in the stroller this afternoon. He was being a bit difficult and D & K needed to get on with some planning details for the house movers for next month.

It was another gorgeous day, and we went down to Scranton Flats alongside the Cuyahoga River, where I spotted this superb tree swallow. The iridescent blue on its back lit up beautifully in the sun. It was perched on an artificial nesting box, one of many that have been placed along the tow-path walkway. All part of the "greening" of this area that used to be all industrial and rather unpleasant. The Cleveland municipality have done a lot of good work and it is looking much better even in the one year since we were last here. The tow-path/cycleway is being extended (to eventually be part of the nearly 400 mile bike path to Cincinnati), lots of planting and tidying up of the industrial mess. Still a long way to go, but its encouraging to see the progress.
