Still here

We popped over to Thursley this morning to see if Colin was still around. I wasn't optimistic but when we got to the field and saw a bunch of photographers already camped out we knew this was a good sign. Some of them had already had a visit from Colin and we, too, were rewarded for our patience when he showed up for a photo session a couple of hours after we arrived. He was actually around for most of that two hours, calling to another cuckoo who was encroaching on his territory and preoccupied with that rather than his next meal. This was the scene as we waited for him to honour us with his presence. You can see the perches he uses on the middle right. Anyway, it was great to see him again as he's probably going back to Africa any day now. As before, I'm going to miss that bird but hopefully he'll make it back again next year *everything crossed*.

When we got back Son2 and I went to give my dad his Fathers' Day stuff and then we returned to ours where Mr DA had cooked us (and Son1) a roast. I for one have certainly enjoyed Fathers' Day!
