Hillhead Haiku... something to hear

We visited Hillhead High School today, where the AH English class has been working on Wyllie-inspired creative writing.

A couple of weeks ago, the pupils heard about George Wyllie's work and started their own research into it.

By last week, they were completing their poems and using them to decorate a 3m paper boat which they had built. (Now in the exhibition.)

Last week ended with the pupils acting as guides for young pupils at the Glasgow Schools' Reception.

This week, they've been recording their haiku poems and discussing with each other the way in which the meaning was enhanced by hearing the authors read their own work.

They've also created a 'Wyllie Wall', documenting the whole process, which spreads along the corridor, long and high.

So, what about the poems? You can hear them, read by the pupils on Hillhead HS's page on the website for schools. It's one of the first pages of the site to go live.

So, they've gone from there to here so very quickly and so very well. We have a feeling we'll be hearing more from them. Should be good.
