Piece hall gates Halifax coat of arms

not the true halifax coat of arms as this version was never registered so it would seem when the gates were put in place in 1871. 
except the lord and keep the city is the latin motto
john the baptists severed head is in the middle who was declared the patron saint of wool traders
the lamb represents the lamb sacrificed at the jewish passover commemorating the freedom of jews from Egyptian slavery. the blue and yellow cheques from the shield of a norman lord.
