Baffled

I really like these iron railings at the entrance to some of the tenement closes; I've noticed a few in different streets recently, but can't remember really seeing them before (probably because I wasn't previously on the lookout for interesting things to blip!)

No idea what you would call them (I'd opt for 'baffles' myself) - I'm sure there must be a proper architectural name for them.
