Baker's Tank

We reached this historic train tank after a half hour of uphill riding on our mountain bikes during our first full day in Breckenridge, CO. This was the start of the downhill portion of the Baker's Tank Trail, much needed when riding at almost 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) above sea level. This tank served the Colorado and Southern Narrow Gauge railroad that ran between Como and Leadville from 1884 to 1937. According to the sign, the 63.83 miles of track had 435 curves with the longest straight stretch being 1.6 miles.
