Today was a rest day. So after a lazy morning we had lunch and went to Runnymede to the 12 chairs of the Jurors. It is an artwork by HewLocke commemorating the 800th anniverSary of the sealing of the Magna Carta in 1215.
They are on display in an ancient meadow in Runnymede where the signing took place. The Jurors is a rectangle of chairs decorated with images of the last and present relating to ongoing struggles of freedom, rukeof law and equal rights.. it is not a memorial but an artwork to challenge us to consider ongoing influences of the Magna Carta.
The collage shows the front of 3 chairs and the memorial of Magna Carta which was put there by the American Bar association to remember freedom under law
