Wonderful wheat

A photograph of the wheat crop whilst it is still here.

I've learned recently that the farmers have been working so hard trying to get the crops in before the dry spell ended for three good reasons:

1. It won't need drying out in warehouses which will save them money
2. With the intense heat there has been an increased risk of fire and they could loose the lot
3. Straw will fetch a good price this year.  There has been no grass to eat so livestock are already having to eat winter supplies.

This field is still not in, but I don't suppose it will be long.
