The trials and tribulations of Bert

Sorry for absence but it’s been a tough week.
Bert had to have emergency op last Monday to remove a testicular tumour. He is 2 weeks off being 8 and the vet told us how risky a general anaesthetic was for him but would operate there and then. She removed it, no evidence of spread but the recovery has been very tricky. He stopped eating and drinking and had to have sub cut fluids injected twice and several injections for gut. I think he got a urinary infection and so got antibiotics too. Tummy massages (thanks kimmikins, I remembered those from you) every 30 mins throughout Saturday finally got his gut moving again. He finally perked up late Sunday. He remains on antibiotics that he hates and ranitidine that he likes. We have turned the corner but may not be completely out the woods but he’s almost back to normal for now. Phew!
