God's Eyes over Godley Head

A trip out to Godley Head today, with Nature Photographic Society; 9 of us.

These crepuscular rays were putting on quite a display as I drove out to meet everyone this morning.

There were several gun emplacements, and all the associated paraphernalia, erected on Godley Head at the beginning of WWII, to protect Christchurch from any invasion from Japan, or elsewhere.
It's fascinating out there now, but much has been fenced off, ostensibly waiting for quake repair - it's been waiting for nearly 8 years now! Grrrr.

I've put an image into Extras, of one of NPS members approaching the door to the practice target range. It's a lovely grungy old door!
