Looks Good To Me

Pizza Time

I took photos at another tree-planting work party this morning, at Terrell Creek. There was a good turnout, with several large groups. The rain held off until just before noon, but it's rained heavily since then.

Cynthia's daughter, M is staying with us tonight, and we all decided it would worth braving the elements to go to La Fiamma for pizza. We arrived just in time to get one of the last available tables, in the corner close to the wood-fired oven. It's my favorite place, especially on a dark, stormy night. Not only does it give a good view of the fire, but it's also the corner where the pizza dough-tossing takes place. Last but not least, for hearing-impaired folk like me, it's relatively quiet.

We shared a large pizza, so that there'd be left-overs for tomorrow's lunch. On one half, the topping was rosemary roasted red potatoes, caramelized onions, house-made fennel Italian sausage with gorgonzola and mozzarella cheese and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar syrup. The other half was topped with herbed ricotta sauce and a six cheese blend (mozzarella, provolone, white cheddar, gorgonzola, parmesan, asiago), and basil pesto

Since we didn't finish the pizza, we had no qualms about sharing an Oh-so Ginger Ice Cream Sam'ich -- two giant, chewy, house-made ginger cookies, three scoops of Mallard vanilla ice cream, and warm caramel sauce.

We came home very contented.
