THE GIRLS WERE OUT TO PLAY....

.... dropped by the mighty Hawkesbury River this arvo - we have had more wonderful rain which has obviously got the birds excited!

In the park were about twenty odd King Parrots foraging in the ground under the trees feeding on the seeds.

It was pretty dull but their brilliant colours stood out particularly when a dog spooked them here, only to return again for the tucker.

The interesting thing is that normally these Parrots hang around in pairs and to have all this number of females without any males interesting?
The males have a bright red head as shown here on Birds in Backyards.
