Sunday 8 February 2009: Thrupenny - Thrift

Last month my Armeria maritima flowered and I blipped it, this plant is also known as thrift, which I'd like to believe is why they place it on this 1941 thrupenny bit. I found this coin when I put some books up in my attic, and thought it might be an interesting blip. It's funny to think that it was minted 68 years ago in the same year that Japanese bombed pearl harbour and the Hassleblad company was formed.
