Let's talk about the bin, shall we????

BBC12.

Here is the Blackheath Community Centre, which is central to so many things going on in Blackheath. It has a long history (by Australian standards) and was built by the community for the community. Hobbs I'm sure will fill you in.

Recently the council decided to ditch the bins on the road side (at the rear). What we see here is the front, facing the lovely Memorial Gardens. This has come about as the council were peeved because the large bins were being used by people other than the hall users. Solution: take away the big bins and chain these attractive (not!) smaller bins to the railing that leads up to the entrance of the hall.

But really, why should we complain?? At first, they padlocked the bin to the railing right at the entry on the landing. That way, if someone needed to use the landing i.e. at the markets, they would have to tip the bin upside down and rotate it so the bin would then be (still padlocked to the railing) but now on the other side, upside down and breaking all the shrubbery. It's hard to use a bin when it's upside down in shrubbery with only the wheels in sight.

Now we shall have to send off letters to numerous people in the council, the councillors, the paper etc etc just to get the bin issue fixed. Everything's a fight and I, for one, am sick to death of it!
