Big Pete

Friday, Show day, Canterbury anniversary, public holiday. And Mrs PS was off to Wellington for a med school reunion. Dad, home alone.

Against better judgement I agreed to take the kids to the A&P show. I think we've all done it for the next few years now! It's expensive, $41 to get in, it was so busy, the rides were expensive, and I dunno, just not an ideal kids experience.

Having said that, contrary to "standard practice", we didn't' do any rides. We do look at farm equipment, we did try lots of different foods (OK, we had some candyfloss as well!) and we watched lots of demonstrations. Thrashing using 100 year old traction engines, dog trials, like big Pete here. The sheep totally screwed him, several jumped out of the paddock! We help 3 day old trurkest, and we watched lambs being born. Twins in fact, the piece de résistance being the framer had to put his hand up to get the second one out. It lived, but the kids certainly were grossed out!

Then home and dinner. The kids were awesome. Helped prepare and cook dinner (home made hamburgers0 then completely cleaned up. Yep, the new weekend routine, they cook Saturday nights, and they loved it!
