Red Admiral

Out early to walk the dog and post some almost overdue library books through the letterbox. Back, then out again for a meeting which turned out positive and useful. I'd done my 10,000 steps by lunchtime but out I went again for a bit of shopping for tonight. Our nephew arrives this afternoon for a short visit. It'll be great to see him and we have a houseful tonight for a meal.

After yesterday's storm there are many leaves, twigs, branches and whole trees down round the river. But today is a complete contrast. It's still breezy but it's sunny and bright. I've already commented here that I've hardly seen any butterflies this year so I was glad to spot this red admiral on the invasive Himalayan Balsam, now starting to go to seed.
