This is the last container of milk that I intend to buy because on Saturday the milkman will deliver it to me. Yes it is more expensive, but it's something that I can afford to do to lessen the amount of plastic in the world. I know that milk containers are recyclable and until now I've washed them out and put them in the correct bin... but it's got to be better not to use them at all.

Have a look around the supermarket next time you shop, everything, but everything is made from plastic, encased in plastic, surrounded by the stuff. How did it get to be this way!

We owe it to our children, our grandchildren and the world to take action. Our walking trousers are man-made, our fleece fabrics shed fibres into our drinking water, our down jackets are encased in plastic - and all we can do now is to make them last as long as possible.

- Stop using clingfilm and cover with a plate or put in a reusable container.
- Buy loose fruit and veg where possible.
- Choose glass over plastic containers for such as ketchup and peanut butter.
- Open freeze where possible so only one plastic bag is used instead of multiple.
- Use biodegradeable bags where possible.
- Ditch those disgusting sponge scourers.
- Stop buying tissues in little plastic sachets.
- And for goodness sake let's get bottled water BANNED, no-one needs to buy bottled water.

We can all do something and we must hope it's not too late... Ok rant over, until the next time.
