Grimspound

I was out with the local walking group on Dartmoor today, one of my favourite walking locations.  The weather wasn't the best as it was fairly cloudy and cold in places but the visibility was fairly good.  It was a great circular walk starting in Widecombe in the Moor and taking in Bonehill, Natsworthy and the Bronze Age remains of an ancient settlement at Grimspound before returning via Hamel Down.

My blip is of Grimspound which comprises the remains of 24 stone roundhouses within a massive stone wall, see extra for the full scale of the site.  Another extra of Bonehill Rocks is also included.

It was a lovely walk encapsulating the wild and bleak nature of Dartmoor along with many historic relics.  We were fortunate enough to have. a member turn up who lived in this area as a child and so pointed out many of the historic findings as we went including Barrow Stones and family boundary stones.

We ended up in a local teashop well pleased with ourselves.  A walk to be repeated.
