Accident and Emergency

A few days ago Margaret fell down the last stair and hurt her ankle... Although painful she was able to walk and we thought it was just a bruise. A few days after that she went to see the doctor who also thought it unlikely that there was bone damage but referred Margaret for a x-ray just in case.

We went to the community hospital in Saffron Walden yesterday for the x-ray and sure enough there was a chipped bone in her foot and we were told to go to A & E at Addenbrookes Hospital to get sorted. We arrived at 2.45pm and Margaret was back home at 9.30pm having had another x-ray and a CT Scan and being fitted with a boot. We have to go back to the Fracture Clinic in a week for them to check up on how things are.

The whole A & E experience was very good, there is quite a lot of waiting but they are BUSY! Margaret was sorted by some very competent and caring staff and I guess you can't ask for better than that.

Before all this started I saw Michael and Chris on the farm... they are very pleased as they were just finishing drilling the winter cereals [extra - the last 13 acres]
