Mount Adams mural

Friday
Today, the four of us went downtown to the Cincinnati Art museum. Between noon and 2pm on Fridays they have entertainment - it may feature musicians, poets, storytellers, dancers amongst others. Today it featured a couple, going by the name of Bearfoot playing Appalachian style music, with banjo/banjo ukelele and fiddle. We sat and listened to them for about an hour, and then we joined a docent-led tour of some of the highlights of the museum. Following that we enjoyed a very pleasant lunch in their cafe, then we walked through a couple of small special exhibitions, one featuring the posters of Toulouse Lautrec, and the other the photography of Herb Ritts. Before going home we took a short drive through the Mount Adams neighborhood, where I took this picture of a recently completed mural, which depicts the history, folklore, and distinct character of Mt. Adams through a combination of painting, found objects, reclaimed architectural elements, and mosaic. The weather was quite different today - overcast, and much colder, in fact the temperatures had fallen during the course of the day, and by this time, with the cold wind, it felt quite raw, so we were glad to get home and have a nice hot cup of tea!
