Shell Detail

Every time we walk the beach, which we do at least once everyday, we find sea glass, or shells, or something else of interest to bring back to the apartment for future use in a craft project. I noticed, while the latest collection was drying by the kitchen sink, how intricate some of the shell designs are and decided they needed to be immortalized prior to incorporation into a new beach hanging. My earliest efforts, taken during daylight hours, were less than successful - the texture and design was not sufficiently discernible. Off camera flash to the rescue, which is incredibly easy with my Canon 7D and 580 EXII. A lot of experimenting later, which is also incredibly easy with a digital camera, and this is the result.
