Get Thee To A Swannery

Both TT and I ran again – though not together.  It is really hard work in the heat, and his runs are much harder than mine.  Today we headed to Eggardon Hill – an iron age hillfort.  It is huge.  We had a lovely walk and admired the views in all directions.  Our next stop was hardy’s monument.  We have visited it before – but could barely see it.  Again there was fabulous views, but unfortunately it was closed, so we couldn’t get to the top of the tower.  Instead we found a nearby picnic bench and had our lunch in the sun.

We descended back down to the coast and ended up at Abbotsbury where we went for a wander and ended up at the Swannery.  We were in two minds whether to part with our cash to visit, but decided we would.  Surprisingly, we all found it really interesting and BB got the chance to feed the swans – and TT had a go too.   The downside was that once they had done that the café was closed, so we had to wander back into the village in search of some refreshments.

It was lovely to get home and to sit in the garden with a gin and tonic and my book.  Later we went for fish and chips for tea, and TT made a new best friend of the lady who ran the chip shop!

Feeding time at the swannery was very Pavlovian!  The extras show the view from Eggardon Hillfort and Hardy’s Monument.
