The best-laid plans

On Tuesday I had my jabs for Vietnam.
I now have Diptheria and Tetanus and Typhoid and Hepatitis. But only a bit.
After work today, several of us went to the planning committee meeting to see whether the proposed champagne bar 20m from our front door got the go ahead. We were concerned about the noise and the inevitable people smoking outside. The planning department had suggested that the permission should be granted but, on the day, it was turned down. Not because of our concerns but because of the lack of parking.
