Split gill

I'm surprised at how much Split gill fungus, Schizophyllum commune, I'm seeing on beech logs this winter. It has become one of my favourites, despite becoming a lot less 'scarce and special' at Dancersend Reserve. Extra photo shows the top of the caps - like the furry paws of a cat or bear.
