But, then again . . . . .

Centre Piece.

We were invited by a very good friend to pop round and help her and her family dispose of their Christmas lunch. Our contribution to the proceedings was to provide the table decoration; had I realised the problems with blipping white cyclamen flowers, I might have chosen something different to take. It was a very pleasant afternoon and evening punctuated with dozing on the settee during some inane t.v. comedy repeats.

During the discussions, mention was made of late deliveries of Christmas presents and Herself commented that there had been a parcel marked, “Fragile” delivered the other day which she hadn’t thought to mention. I’ve been on a couple of trips to Ron McCombe’s garden bird hide in The Borders to photograph birds on a rather distinctive fence post that we have seen featured in a few international photographic competitions and exhibitions. Consequently, Jnr, in an act of gratitude for me having been such a good father, had seen fit to purchase a pop-up hide; it is, basically, a disposable festival tent that I wish to use in the garden. Since I have had some quite good results shooting garden birds through the kitchen window, I fancy trying to avoid having to clean said window and getting closer to the wild-life. On returning home at the end of the evening, we discovered that the hide is very nearly, but not quite, small enough fit into our kitchen; there is also a very cunning knack to quickly folding it up and returning it to its conveniently sized carry bag – we will try and pack it away tomorrow.
