Ash

So today ended up being quite the adventure. 

After work, Caroline's collegues invited us to join them at a beer festival in the park just around the corner from our house. We had a lovely time, and went to leave - then as we rounded the corner realised that the 3m high hedge of the house on the corner was on fire. There was a little irish chap from the house panicking, and we managed to convince him to let us in to help him - he rang the fire brigade while we ferried buckets of water onto the fire from the hose (it wasn't long enough). We managed to douse a lot of it, but the fire brigade were there to extinguish the hedge and the now-alight fencing. Not what we expected but glad we were able to help - I think the poor man alone would have ended up with a lot more damage. But I certainly did need a shower to get rid of the ash and smoke!
