Springwood Tunnel Ventilation Shafts

A sunny but cold day. Had another walk up to Greenhead Park and passed these two ventilation shafts on my way.

The shafts serve the Springwood Tunnel which carries the line from Huddersfield to Manchester. One of the shafts was constructed in 1848 and the other in 1880.
