Round Square Cupola
If concepts work by similarity spaces, I guess an octogon will be paradigmatic of a round square, for it has key similarities with both.
This particular one is the octagonal cupola on the Little Castle at Bolsover. I took some students there today, since we had been reading Margaret Cavendish and I think Bolsover really helps imagine her personality and life, which in turn helps the much harder imaginative exercise of understanding her metaphysics.
We also went to Ault Hucknall where Hobbes is buried. The church was locked and calls to the churchwardens yielded nothing, but fortunately one of the villagers had a key and we were able to get in.
