Restoration
There are so many mills in the city lying vacant, surrounded by "under development" signs, that it always comes as a surprise to find work in progress on any of them. This is part of the Midland Mills site, which has had a plan on the drawing board for a few years but the go-ahead for work seems to have been given.
I last blipped the site about a year ago, highlighting the distinctive goat weather vane that sits proudly on the top, a feature that will hopefully be retained in the restoration. The architects have an elaborate animated film of how it will all look, none of which quite conveys that these windows will have a view out over Forster Square retail park. Still, it is a fine collection of buildings, and it will be good to see them back in use.
