A small item for this weeks local paper

The original GR postbox at Cranemoor Nook has been stolen so today we needed a set-up photo for the local paper (to go in the community insert).  Luckily I found a photo of the original box that I took in 2009 - finding it was absolute luck, though I do have a labelling and dating system for early folders.  I selected five for the paper to choose from so they might not choose this one.  Ann has already had plenty of FB responses to this image.  (They’re both posers!)

This is what Ann has written:

Several months ago, a resident of Crane Moor Nook went to post a birthday card and discovered that the post box had gone, leaving just the metal stump of its support post.  Parish Councillor Ann Rowley led the fight for a replacement.  At first, the Royal Mail resisted, and Thurgoland Parish Council wrote repeatedly in support of residents' requests.

This month, a new mail collection box has finally been installed, raising hopes of a return to postal collections as usual in Crane Moor Nook!

Unfortunately, normal service will not be resumed immediately, as the posting slit is currently blocked shut by a piece of wood bolted in place on the inside!
