Thursday 19 February 2009: We are the robots
I have a very clear childhood memory of trying to build a robot with my best friend. We were utterly convinced we'd be able to fashion a mechanical friend out of the innards of his mum's old washing machine. I think we gave up after less than ten minutes.
In my late twenties, I harboured a secret desire to enter Robot Wars. I'd spend hours mentally designing ingenious weapons capable of taking out Chaos II and Hypnodisc, but I only got as far as joining the fan club.
One day I will build a robot. I will, I will.
