Fewer shops?

I heard today that Tesla is cutting costs, closing "shops" (showrooms?) in an attempt to reduce the price of the Model 3.  This is the "shop" in the Grand Arcade in Cambridge.  I can't make out why anyone would buy a Tesla with such a strange support model; if I buy a new BMW (just for example, to float a dream) I know that I can go back to any BMW dealer to organise rectification of the many faults that new cars develop.  But for a Tesla customer there appears to be no such support.

Or am I being too hard on a company just because the owner seems to be a little odd?
