Icebergs on Hooker Glacier Lake

Today we drove to the Mount Cook Village. Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand.
We then followed the Hooker Valley trail which is a 3.5 hour walk to Hooker Glacier Lake which lies beneath Mount Cook.
What a spectacular walk it was! The lake has been formed from the melt from the Hooker Glacier. There are several large icebergs on the lake which have broken away from the main ice flow. At the far end of the lake you can see the end of the glacier. Unfortunately the top of Mount Cook is in the clouds which did not lift for us. It was difficult choosing just three photos for today's blip.

Today's first extra is Mueller Glacier Lake which we passed on the way up. To the right is one of three suspension bridges that we crossed. I was impressed by these and how well the tracks are maintained.

The second extra is wide angle shot taken on one of the bridges.
