Counting 'Faloos' (Money)

It's getting harder for people here to earn a living.

More and more street vendors are appearing selling, cigarettes, sunglasses, watches, ship ship (Flip flops) calendars, bread, herbs grown on their land, tissues....anything that the people need on a daily basis, is now available on the streets.

Some set up shop on a cart, pulled by a donkey. Others have custom made 'Portable' shops, that can be pushed or cycled away, many just show there wares on a piece of cotton on the pavement/street.

It's a difficult one to balance, as yes, you can say they are entrepreneurs, but at the same time, consider the shop keepers that pay rent and have these people sitting close to their shop doors? They lose so much custom.

Being a street vendor is a long day, starting early and finishing late. In the summer it is so hot working on the asphalted roads as the sun beats down, yet cold at night during the winter months.

This man looks to have had a good day, as he sits at the front of the ferry and counts his daily takings. Time to head off home for a good meal, sleep and then back to do it all again tomorrow.

The rat race is Universal :-)
