Abridged

On the way to Rafah today, the driver went off the main coastal road and onto a bumpy dirt road. I didn't remember why until we passed the Coastal Bridge, one of the two main bridges in the Gaza Strip, both of which were blown up during the recent war.

In the early morning of the last day, 21 November, the Israelis targeted both bridges, which connect the centre of the Gaza Strip with the northern Gaza Strip, sparking fears that the much-threatened ground invasion was imminent. This is yet another example of pointless, punitive damage to the infrastructure of the Gaza Strip.
