Just the ticket

At Nø 273 Ponsonby Road is the Ponsonby store of Milly's Kitchen. This is the original kitchenware shop, although a second branch has since opened in Parnell, another central city suburb.

This is another photo taken on my One Street, Ponsonby Road, as part of the project initiated by kendall.

It is also a response to Blast's weekly challenge, which this week is ticket. This is my interpretation, based on the phrase "just the ticket".

This is a more recent version of a saying which dates from the early 19th century; "that's the ticket". Both mean Exactly what is needed, or Exactly right. Apparently the exact allusion is disputed; Suggestions have included the winning lottery ticket, a price tag for merchandise; also suggested is corruption of etiquette from the French for proper behaviour.

Milly's is certainly the exactly right place for kitchen utensils, and for courses in baking, and icing. Daughter C attended an icing course and makes the most fabulous cakes. Milly's is Just the ticket for cooks; as the wee phrase on the edge of the verandah has it Milly's is where people meet who love to cook.
