Houblon fords a stream

It was quite cold, but the rocks on either side were lovely and warm, so it was a pleasure to sit on them and let our feet dry. If only crossing streams was always so much fun!

Today was a walking day. We did start to go up the Mt Fox track, but fairly soon decided that we are wimps and prefer benched tracks if the terrain is rainforest on a 70 degree slope. Wet tree branches are horribly slippery, and, as those who've walked with me know, I'm normally OK scrambling up, but I don't find scrambling down nearly so much fun...

After leaving Mt Fox for the more intrepid, we went up to the Chalet Lookout (fording this stream on the way) and also down to the wibbly, wobbly pedestrian bridge built across the river in 1920 as the new improved way to get to the lookout (before the main road bridge was built). The main road bridge is (as is often the case here) only one lane wide and has a sign informing heavy vehicles that only one is allowed on the bridge at a time...

Another great day
