View of Norwich from Mousehold Heath

Today's view is not that different from that seen by Robert Kett and the rebels in 1549.

Robert Kett was a yeoman farmer from Wymondham who put himself at the head of Norfolk peasants who opposed the enclosure of common land by the gentry.

Although eventually defeated Kett and his followers bombarded Norwich from the high ground on Mousehold Heath and successfully stormed across the River Wensum to take control of England's second city.

Kett would have been able to see the Cathedral and the Castle as now, and the numerous medieval churches visible here.

The most obvious differences are the Roman Catholic Cathedral and the City Hall.
