Westport Beach

12C with sunny sunshine all day. Moderate NW/NNW breeze.

Apothecary7's day off.

We went to Westport mid morning and walked along the beach as far as the seat by the golf course at Machrihanish Dunes, had a seat for a while, then walked back. We had the beach almost to ourselves on the outward walk and as usually people were arriving as we got back to the car park. It was as clear as it has been for ages. We could clearly see Rathlin island, Islay, Jura, Gigha, and beyond to the North.

We went for lunch at Glenbarr in good time to get an outside table. The little sheltered one we like was free and
it was warm sitting in the sun. After lunch we bought two Broom plants and 3 big bags of compost then set off for home.

At home we closed our eyes to the long grass and cleared out the small bed we have at one side of the garden and planted the Brooms and a couple of other plants we had in pots on out "patio". I mulched the plants with quite a bit of the compost both to keep water in and to help feed initially as out soil is quite impoverished and shallow.

Later Apothecary7 was sweeping the stairs and tidying our very small succulent 'garden' on the top window sill of the turret.
