Through a wet windscreen

I am relieved that we have reached the end of the week. We began the week with the ward full, and the other clinicians reporting that no one was ready to be discharged. Each day we managed to identify a few people we could find a better setting for their care, and discharge them. Each day, the same number were admitted. That way of working, especially when as Lead Clinician I feel responsible for overseeing the access in and out, is exhausting. The nominal head of state for NZ (Elizabeth Regina II) has her unbirthday on Monday, which means we have a public holiday. Which means three days when movement out will be minimal to zero, and we are starting with few empty beds.

So this photo represents how I feel this evening. Even though it was taken on the way to work.
