Salvage from the Wreckage

Lumiere

No run this morning! Call yourself obsessed? Instead we went to the Atelier Les Lumiere for the immersive light and music show. Really good!

First show was based on Van Gogh. Images dissolving into each other and brought to moving life with a great soundtrack. Debussy, Miles Davis...

Next was a show based on Japanese art - the floating world. Again, excellent. The music was good too although, checking the credits at the end, a lot of it was from Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, so not especially authentic. This one used more animation of parts of images.

The third part was a short piece which seemed to be about the Cosmos and was quite abstract. Still good.

Images are projected onto the walls of the old foundry and onto the audience. There was a pool and a mirrored infinite room.

Very good.

As was “French” pizza at a nearby restaurant.

After that, H headed off to meet K whilst we tried to look at Pere Lachaise cemetery which C hasn’t seen. But it was closed because of high winds! So, instead, we did the longish walk back - through Belleville and H’s old neighbourhood.

After a cup of tea we met up with H and K for a “pint” (what we would call a half litre of beer) before they headed off for a free meal (H gets these chances sometimes - the deal is that she then pitches a write-up to one or more publication.
