Swallowtail Butterfly

Today we went to How Hill Nature Reserve in the Norfolk Broads. It was great to hear a cuckoo calling as I haven't heard one this year.

We were thrilled to see a Swallowtail Butterfly in a meadow, it's a beautiful creature and the Broads is the only place that they can be found in the UK.  There's an extra photo that shows the underwings as well as it's body which is the same colour and markings as the wings. There were also lots of Painted Ladies around as well as dragonflies and damselflies.

There was a long period of heavy thundery rain and we got to the hide just as it started so had a good shelter for the duration of the storm.
